While time away from home is refreshing, it can also disrupt the routines you've worked hard to establish—especially when it comes to myofunctional therapy.
But here’s the good news: with a little planning, you can stay consistent with your exercises, nasal breathing habits, and oral posture no matter where the road takes you. Let’s explore some practical strategies to help keep your progress on track during your time away.

Keep Your Routine on the Clock
Travel days can throw off your timing, but setting simple cues helps:
✅ Set phone reminders for myo sessions
✅ Pair exercises with daily tasks - do them after brushing teeth or before meals
✅ Use travel time wisely: practice correct tongue posture and nasal breathing during long car rides or flights.
Don't Forget to Breathe (Through Your Nose)
Dry airplane air, new environments, and allergens can lead to mouth breathing. Here’s how to stay on track:
✅ Use nasal spray or saline rinses daily, especially in dry or dusty locations
✅ Try nasal strips or myotape at night (only if you’ve been cleared by your therapist to do so)
✅ Watch for signs of congestion and treat early to prevent regression
Support Quality Sleep
Poor sleep can undo progress in therapy. To help regulate breathing and muscle tone while you’re away:
✅ Keep a consistent bedtime
✅ Pack a travel pillow that supports good neck posture
✅ Limit screens before bed to reduce open-mouth postures and sleep disruption
